Two Towers Walk 20th September 2025

20 September 2025 No Comment

Lavenham church is this year celebrating the 500th anniversary of the completion of building of its church tower.  Various special events have already taken place, with one to come which will be a walk from Lavenham Church to Melford church (with the opportunity to climb each tower).

This walk will start from Lavenham church at 1.30 pm on Saturday 20th September (come a little earlier if you wish to climb the tower before we set off).  The route is mainly along the disused railway line and is about 4.4 miles long taking about 1 hour 45 minutes.  Please be aware that part of the route is very overgrown.

As we approach Melford church the bell ringers there will welcome us with some ringing, and light refreshment will be available in the church courtesy of a Lavenham church member.

You may wish to return on foot (using the same route) alternatively buses run from Melford post office leaving at 16.52 and 17.33 calling at Lavenham Swan hotel.

For those arriving at Lavenham by car the church car park (immediately opposite the church, or its field behind via the same entrance), will provide free parking.

Please note that we need to know numbers so please respond by Thursday if you intend to join us.  Any last minute changes please ‘phone me on 07484 749531 on the day so we know not to wait for you!
