Sudbury Rotary Club’s “Tree of Memories”

Over the Christmas period, Sudbury Rotary Club will be promoting a ‘Tree of Memories’, using the large Christmas Tree in the Chancel of St. Peter’s Church, Sudbury. We will be inviting dedications to be submitted and hung on the tree from the start of the Rotary Christmas Tree Festival on 4th December and over the Christmas period until Sunday 5th January 2014, when the project will conclude with the opportunity to attend a non-denominational service at 3.00pm in St. Peters.

We are hoping that a local newspaper will publish all dedications in the run-up to Christmas, but this has still to be finalised. Those making a dedication will be able to make a donation, if they wish, to charities supported by the Rotary Club, but this will be purely voluntary.  Application Forms will be available from the Tourist Information Desk in Sudbury Library towards the end of November, and will also be available at the Rotary Christmas Tree Festival.

We have discussed this project with St. Nicholas Hospice, who run a similar activity (Light up a Life) as a fund-raising venture – this concludes before our project starts and so they are happy that there is no conflict between the two activities.
