St Gregory’s Church
This announcement to the congregation was made in church on Sunday 13 March 2016, following interviews the previous week:
We are delighted to announce that the next Priest in Charge of Sudbury St Gregory with St Peter and Chilton is to be the Revd Canon Cheryl Collins, currently Rector of Suffolk Heights and Acting Rural Dean of Clare Deanery. Cheryl previously served in Ely Diocese where she was Priest in Charge of three villages close to Cambridge and Rural Dean of Bourn, and before that was Anglican Chaplain of Sheffield University.
She was made an Honorary Canon of St Edmundsbury Cathedral in 2015 and has served on Bishop’s Council since 2013.
She is thrilled to have been selected, and told us “I am very much looking forward to the opportunities for ministry in Sudbury, and to working with the fantastic team at St. Greg’s. My prayer is that my ministry among you will build on and complement the fine legacy that Greg Webb has left.”
(Suffolk Heights Benefice is comprised of the parishes of Chevington, Chedburgh, Depden, Hargrave, Hawkedon and Rede, to the southwest of Bury St Edmunds.)
