Sponsored canoe trip for Christian Aid

We are arranging another sponsored canoe trip to raise money for a Christian Aid project, on the morning of Wednesday 1 August 2018.

This year the route will be along the same stretch of the River Stour as last year, starting from Wissington and finishing at Stratford St Mary.

As before the event is in partnership with the River Stour Boating Company. They are providing instructors and two-person (stable) Canadian canoes, so no previous experience of paddling is required.  They also provide transport back to the start.

The cost is £20 per person plus a further £15 per person taken from sponsorship money to cover the boat company charge of £35 per person.

This year the event will support a Christian Aid project in Kenya, Supporting children and orphans with HIV/AIDS and will attract an amazing 17:1 matched funding. This means that every £1 raised will turn into £18.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you or anyone you know are interested in taking part, and I will then send the paperwork. (Thank you to those previous participants who have already indicated that they are interested for this year.)

Last year’s event raised £1,450 before Gift Aid and quadrupling. Sudbury has contributed more than £5,000 over recent years to the previous project in Central America, “Empowering women and girls”, to help marginalised women and girls in El Salvador and Honduras to secure their rights. The canoe trips provided most of this money, so grateful thanks to all involved.
