The closure of Gainsborough Road from 24 July for water and electrical works will cause some degree of chaos in the town and beyond, for churchgoers and others, as I mentioned at Saturday’s Prayer Breakfast.

The website https://roadworks.org/ gives information about roadworks.

You may need to change the box in the top right from “Today” to “Next 2 weeks”, or to specific dates by clicking on the calendar symbol.

Clicking on a coloured section of road will reveal the details of a diversion route. Currently, the text for the Gainsborough Road diversion for light vehicles is incorrect (it sends you back to the closed road) but the map is correct: Church St/Friars St/Station Rd/Gt Eastern Rd/King St/East St/R at lights/Newton Rd/bypass. Northbound HGVs are supposed to divert at Halstead.

Sudbury Carnival, on 19 August, will be re-routed.
