Christmas Day Lunch

Christmas Day Lunch – a report from Teresa Bishop

The Christmas day lunch was splendid. We had 52 guests (including for the first time two families with young children). We were extremely lucky this year with transport (always one of our biggest problems). Go Start provided us with a mini bus and a driver which meant all our less able-bodied guests could be collected and arrive together, also of course the hydraulic lift was perfect for our wheelchair guests. As if this wasn’t blessing enough Rotary paid for the transport costs, Angelo Smiths Jewellers provided turkey and The Mary Brown Trust provided funding for the vegetables and sundry meat items. We were also fortunate this year to have two great musicians to play for us so a good sing song was had by all.

We gave 10 hampers to those most needy of our guests, and the children had Christmas presents and lots of love and attention.

One mum that came to the lunch with two young children feeling very isolated will I hope attend the open Church at St Andrews Gt Cornard on Friday mornings (I gave her Chris’s name and details).

A second hamper delivery went out to see the needy through the new year (again thanks to Chris St Andrews for the parcels).

Once again we have seen that it does not matter who or what people are met with God’s love all are equal and all are loved.
