Yesterday I had a very plausible call “on behalf of Visa and Mastercard and all UK banks”, about “suspicious activity on my account”. He persisted for about 30 minutes, until I ended the call.
My bank later confirmed that it would be the bank itself that would phone, and that details of the card or account in question would be provided.
