World Day of Prayer

21 August 2009 No Comment

Annette and ViAnnette Poitier, President of the International Committee of Women’s’ World Day of Prayer, paid a short visit to Sudbury to stay with her friend, Vi Goodhand recently. During her stay, Annette took the opportunity to see Sudbury for herself and even spent the morning in Kettle and Fish on the Fair Trade stall helping to sell produce!  Annette explained that she was on her way from The Bahamas where she lives, to attend the 75th anniversary gathering at High Leigh Conference Centre for women representing Europe.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions that spans some 170 countries throughout the world. These women come together to observe a common day of prayer each year, and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship in prayer and service. Through World Day of Prayer, women affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence in the world.

It was a great privilege to meet Annette and to learn more about this exciting movement.  For further information: www.worlddayofprayer.net
