On 9 May, a fine evening, some of us met for a picnic supper at Foxearth Meadows nature reserve before the Ascension Day Prayer Walk. The theme was “Still He loves the earth He leaves”, and we were led by Revd Ruth Ridge, assisted by others, and again accompanied by a cuckoo. About 30 people (and two dogs) attended.
About 30 people gathered at Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford for a service to mark the start of Christian Aid Week. The service was led by Revd Matthew Lawson, with others assisting. We heard the story of Aline, from Burundi in Africa, who is the focus of this year’s publicity. The Revd Richard Stainer, World Development Adviser for the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, told us about his visit to projects in Ethiopia.
