Number 72 Seeking Volunteers
Number 72 are currently seeking to recruit volunteers to help us in two important areas of our ministry. This is a wonderful opportunity for Christians to serve God, through serving members of the local community.
Café / Drop-in Centre Assistants
We are seeking people to help us provide a warm welcome to members of the public, who visit our café and drop-in centre at Number 72, North Street, Sudbury. Hours can be flexible to suit your availability.
Duties will include serving tea, coffee and cakes. We are also planning to increase the range of Fairtrade / Traidcraft products we offer for sale.
However, this is only secondary to the main purpose of the role, which is to offer friendship and support to anybody who needs it. Experienced members of staff will always be on hand to deal with more complex or urgent needs which arise. The volunteer’s role is to be the first point of contact, providing a friendly listening ear, and referring people to our support workers if necessary.
Neighbourhood Chaplains
As part of an exciting new initiative, we are looking for volunteers to become involved in our “Neighbourhood Chaplains” team. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Various roles are available. These include Chaplains, who will go out into the community to make contact with people and provide practical, emotional and spiritual support, as necessary. Our existing team will always be on hand to deal with more complex or urgent needs which arise if necessary.
In addition to this, we also need volunteers who, although they might not be comfortable making the initial contact with those who need help, would be prepared to provide support in prayer and/or practical ways.
How to apply
If you feel that you would like to explore how you could serve God in any of these ways, please get in touch with the Centre Manager, Rob McNeish, for more details. He can be contacted by email at rob@number72.net, or via mobile on 07940 482241.
