News about the Christmas Hamper Project
Hampers were distributed to :
Home Start Babergh (supporting single parent and young families in need ) -31; Age Concern – 30; Needy people throughout our district – 50; The lady selling the Big Issue – 1; Catholic Church Christmas party – 2; and 1 other.
Gifts were handed out to – Eden’s (6); Catholic Church (4) and to six other groups
The generosity of people within and outside the Christian community was extremely encouraging with many gifts coming from unexpected sources. For example – 40 jars of honey, 14 new boxes of Lego and donations from most CTiS fellowships. A team of willing helpers ensured that the hamper boxes were suitably wrapped and many volunteers arrived at the URC to fill the hampers. A press release and photograph was issued to show the co-operation of the various charities that received the gifts and coverage was obtained from the ‘Mercury’ and ‘Free Press’.
Praise the Lord for His answer to our prayers and His providence and thank you to all who were involved. Peter Sebbage – organiser
