Kettle & Fish wins Babergh Community Achievement Award

On 6h March Babergh District Council distributed their Community Achievement Awards.

Many worthy causes in the area were recognised, their commendations read out by Mark Murphy of Suffolk Radio and awarded by Nick Ridley, Chairman of Babergh District Council – among which was Kettle & Fish!

An excerpt from Babergh’s write up says:

Kettle & Fish is a drop-in community cafe that operates from St Peter’s Church in Sudbury.  The initiative was set up in 2005 by Sudbury Churches Together and runs weekly throughout the year.  Each week, the Kettle & Fish caters to around 350 people, including many of the most vulnerable and marginalised members of the community. It offers a warm and welcoming environment for them to find companionship, comfort and spiritual guidance, should they feel in need of it.

Refreshments, homemade cakes and a range of healthy light lunches are provided for participants at an affordable cost, or in cases of need, they are given for free.  The project requires considerable planning and Malcolm, Judith and Eleanor organise over 60 volunteers to ensure the scheme operates effectively…

May K&F long continue to the praise of God’s glory.
