Jean Guy Memorial Lecture
Jean Guy Memorial Lecture
In Lavenham Church on Tuesday 15th September 2015 at 7pm.
Following on from the successful lecture last year, we are delighted to announce that the 3rd Annual Jean Guy Memorial Lecture will be given by the only living Theologian quoted in Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code”, The Very Revd Professor Martyn Percy (Dean of Christ Church, Oxford and former principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon, Theological College) and is entitled “Honest, Decent, Legal, Truthful? Confessions of a Theologian Working in the Marketplace”.
Martyn’s lecture will draw extensively on his roles in public life, serving as a Director of the Advertising Standards Authority, and as an Adjudicator for the Portman Group (the self-regulating body for the alcoholic drinks industry). He is currently a Commissioner of the Direct Marketing Authority as well as an Advisor to the British Board of Film Classification. He is also Patron of St. Francis’ Children’s Society – an Adoption and Fostering Agency.
Martyn writes and teaches on modern ecclesiology. His recent books include Anglicanism: Confidence, Commitment and Communion (Ashgate) and Thirty-Nine New Articles: An Anglican Landscape of Faith (Canterbury Press).
The Jean Guy Lectures are FREE to attend, however, a retiring collection to defray costs and to support the life and work of Lavenham Church will be made.
