Eden’s Update
Eden’s Update
Following Eden’s Project emergency meeting last week the Staff and Trustees are overwhelmed with the response to our Appeal, which has reached £12,500 to date plus new standing orders and promises for next year.
We have also met with the Mayor and Town Council and were surprised at how highly Eden’s is valued in the Town. They are adamant that Eden’s should not close, to the extent that they have agreed to help towards a shortfall next March. This allows us six months to compile a five year plan as they request, review our strategy and make substantial changes. We realise we cannot just keep appealing for help year on year.
To implement changes we have in mind to:
1) seek new funding streams
2) aim at sustainable long term funding
3) consider partnerships to raise money jointly eg Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
4) encourage the young people themselves to fund raise and thereby value Eden’s more highly and positively
5) to cut costs wherever possible – not selling choc bars at cost price!
6) to consider ways of increasing entry fees etc.
On behalf of Staff, Volunteers and Trustees, our sincere thanks for your generous financial support. Please pray that we will be wise and tireless in serving Sudbury’s young people through Eden’s Project to God’s greater glory.
From Eleanor Ridge on behalf of all the Trustees.
