Christian Aid Week
Christian Aid Week
We are urgently seeking more volunteers for the house to house envelope collection in Sudbury & Gt Cornard. At present, two thirds of collectors are from just three churches (All Saints, St John’s & St Gregory’s). Of the remainder, nearly half are from St Andrew’s. With more collectors we could reach the roads we have to miss at present.
Christian Aid works on behalf of all British churches in about 50 countries around the world, bringing sustainable developments as well as emergency aid. It works through carefully monitored organisations in those countries, and not through governments.
This year the week runs from 12 to 18 May and the theme is ‘Bite Back at Hunger’.
In Sudbury the week starts with a united service on Sunday 12th May at Sudbury Baptist Church at 6.30pm, which will be led by Revd John Boardman. The speaker will be Revd John Clark.
We are very grateful to our regular collectors. If you are not one of them, and feel able to volunteer, please speak to your church C A rep if there is one, or direct to me on 01787 374096 or malcolmsnow@onetel.com.
It was 2001 when I took over as Local Organiser for Sudbury & Gt Cornard and I would dearly love to hand the job on to someone with basic administrative skills and an enthusiasm for this cause. Could that be you?
Malcolm Snow.
