An evening in Lent at St Mary’s Church, Bures on March 22nd
Revd Gerald Osborne (SSM) spent three years memorising the whole of St Mark’s Gospel as a spiritual discipline, he and Revd Colin Heber-Percy now present a dramatized version.
They have performed all over the country including Salisbury Cathedral, Bath Abbey, and the Edinburgh Festival. This is their first performance in East Anglia.
It is approximately 60 AD in Rome; persecution is all around, so Mark is dictating his account of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection to a pagan scribe as a matter of urgency. It is the night after St Peter’s crucifixion and Mark knows that he could be next.
The performance will be at St Mary’s Church on March 22nd at 7-9.30. There will be a short interval with coffee or tea, wine and nibbles exactly half way through (the natural break in Chapter 8.29 when St Peter says, “You are the Christ”).
Do come and bring people with you, it will be an evening to remember. There is no charge but there will be a retiring collection. Let us know that you are coming so that we can have an idea of numbers.
