There will be a time for questions at the end followed by coffee/tea, cake and fellowship!

WALNUTTREE – A SERVICE OF THANKSGIVING: ALL INVITED!

With the expected closure of in-patient beds at Walnuttree Hospital we come to the end of another phase in the long and colourful history of the site.  In future, alternative beds will be bought in the community, offering the service as close to the patient as possible.

Originally built as a workhouse for the poor, the present buildings have served as a hospital since the foundation of the National Health in 1948.

On Sunday 18^th July 2010 there will be a Service of Thanksgiving at St Gregory’s Church, starting at 3pm.  The address will be given by the Rt Revd Clive Young, Bishop of Dunwich.  Everyone is most warmly invited to attend.

This will be an opportunity for the staff, patients and people of Sudbury to look back and give thanks for all that has been achieved at Walnuttree Hospital over many years and, equally importantly, to look forward to the future as we begin a new phase of healthcare.

There will be a B-B-Q as well as the opportunity to purchase one of the infamous Eden’s Ice-cream Sundaes and other desserts.

The Rev’d Dr John Parr, team Rector of the North Bury Team Ministry and advisor on mental health matters to the Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich, will be presenting a seminar entitled ‘A Healthy Mind’ illustrating the impact the mind has over the body and how body, mind and spirit are inextricably linked.

Dr Parr is well known for his excellent, interesting and very informative lectures.

Entrance is free and refreshments are available.

The Noise is about young people from Eden’s Project helping to make a positive difference in the local community, because ‘Actions Speak Louder Than Words’.

This year we have chosen Great Cornard as our focus.  We will do a whole load of stuff such as gardening, litter picking, painting and basically making a difference!

If you would like to nominate a project/person/place for us to come and help please use the nomination form, and return it to Eden’s a.s.a.p. (by phone, email, or post).

We are happy to consider nominations to help with all sorts of things and people, for example a project could be at a school, community building, community group, someone in need, someone who the community would like to thank, a park, play area, walkway, etc…
